MoonFire

MoonFire is an adaption of Norman Mailer's documentary tale of the Apollo 11 moon landing, originally serialized in LIFE Magazine in 1969. The TASCHEN edition commemorated the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, featuring previously unreleased photography from NASA's archives. I coordinated a global team of caption writers, copyeditors, fact checkers, contributing photographers, and typesetters. I secured reproduction rights to additional artwork, and shepherded valuable originals through TASCHEN's rigorous production process. I maintained the style guide across three editions, and liaised with marketing on promotional materials. The collector's edition quickly sold out.

Lunar Rock Edition

Lunar Rock Edition

Marc Newson designed a special edition of only twelve copies, which came in a lunar lander stand and included an authentic moon rock. Pricing of this edition varied according to the size of the moon rock included; the most expensive of them was book #1969, whose $500k price made the most expensive book in the world.
